Segments are groups of customers that share common attributes or behaviours. These segments allow for targeted analysis, can be dynamically refreshed to track customer activity over time and can be utilised on third-party systems such as CRMs.
Understanding Segments
- A segment must contain a player identifier to be valid.
- If an insight result includes a player identifier, that insight can be converted into a segment.
- Users can intentionally structure queries to generate segments by including phrases such as:
- "Show player identifiers"
- "List player IDs"
- Similar queries that result in a list of player identifiers alongside other attributes.
Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Segment
-
Write or Open an Insight Containing a Player Identifier
- Create a new query or open an existing insight that references a player identifier.
-
Save the Insight (If Not Already Saved)
- Ensure the insight has been named and saved by clicking Save.
-

- Enable the Active Segment option.
- Save the Insight again to confirm the segment creation.
-
Refresh Rate
- The segment will refresh automatically based on the insight’s assigned refresh rate.
-
Pushing a Segment to Third-Party Software
- To send segment data to external platforms, assign the segment to a publisher.
- A publisher pushes updates to a third-party webhook whenever changes occur.
- Publishing a Segment to AretoNet CRM
- To use a segment directly in AretoNet CRM, a publisher is not required.
- A seemless integration between the two systems allows the utilisation of segments in AretoNet CRM journeys and campaigns.
- This option is only enabled if the CRM is activated on your account.
-
Publishing a Segment
- Click the create a segment icon within the insight.
- Select publish to a CRM account to use the segment in AretoNet CRM.

- Finalisation
-
- Assign a name to the segment and click Create.
- Assign at least one endpoint, then activate the publisher.
- The system will automatically detect and push updates (new player entries or removals) based on the insight’s refresh rate.
-
By following these steps, users can efficiently define, track, and distribute segments, enabling dynamic and data-driven customer segmentation.
